Nothing special required. If desired, you may apply a granular fertilizer formulated for woody plants in late winter/early spring.

Pruning is seldom needed but may be trimmed immediately after flowering.

Itea is a North American native shrub that combines fabulously fragrant flowers and excellent fall foliage.

Fizzy Mizzy Virginia sweetspire (Itea virginica) literally stands out in the landscape with densely packed, upright flower spikes that cover the plant from top to bottom. It’s truly one of the most unique and impressive presentations of sweetspire you’ll find.

An early summer bloom time helps bridge the gap between the seasons seamlessly, and thick, dark green foliage is handsome enough to carry the show for the rest of the season.

This neat, compact shrub can be sited in full sun to full shade, expanding its use in landscape applications.
