CARDINAL CANDY® Linden Viburnum

Zone: 6, 7, 8 Exposure: Full Sun, Part Sun Height: 6-8' Width/Spread: 6-8'

Hardier than other linden viburnum, this plant was discovered by an Indiana nurseryman after a -30F cold spell killed off all of his other V. dilatatum seedlings. Creamy white flowers cover this well-branched plant in May. Abundant, persistent shiny scarlet red fruit have fabulous fall interest.

Light: Grows in full to part sun, needs at least 4 hours of direct sunlight.

Soil: Will grow in any type of well-draining soil.

Water: Has average water needs, but will not tolerate sogginess.

Fertilizing: Apply a fertilizer formulated for flowering woody shrubs in early spring.

Pruning: Pruning isn’t recommended, as it will affect either flowering or berry production. If needed, you can prune after it is done flowering in spring.

Other: Fruiting is strong without a pollinator nearby, but you can plant another V. dilatatum cultivar to increase production.
