Bursts of color and profusions of blooms are very welcome in the springtime! So perhaps it’s time to welcome Dandy Man Color Wheel rhododendron into your space. Its buds are a dark luxurious pink that somehow open up to pale pink ruffled blooms edged with medium pink. As the flowers age, they turn white. It’s a remarkable sight when buds, fresh flowers, and mature blooms are all present on the plant at the same time. Once spring fades, its handsome evergreen leaves take the spotlight. Its heat tolerance and disease resistance keep the foliage looking fresh all throughout the year.

Why grow Dandy Man Color Wheel rhododendron?

Light: Will perform well in a range of sun exposures – from all day sun and shade in northern climates and shady spots in the south. Flowers well in shady spots!

Soil: Prefers very fertile acidic soils that stay evenly moist, but with good drainage.

Water: Likes to be kept on the moist side, but not soggy.

Fertilizing: Apply compost to the soil surface every season, all rhododendrons benefit from high organic matter.

Pruning: Pruning isn’t recommended. Flowers form on old wood, so pruning risks removing future blooms. It also has the best habit when allowed to grow naturally.
