Unlike other I. glabra, this dwarf variety maintains its good branching all the way to the ground. It is an excellent alternative to boxwood. It has dark green evergreen foliage with attractive red tips during the spring flush. Use this adaptable native plant as a small hedge or a container specimen.

Light: Requires full to part sun to thrive, which is a minimum of four hours of direct exposure.

Soil: Needs moist soil or at the very least moist conditions, to thrive. Enjoys soil with an acidic pH.

Water: Requires regular moisture and will not respond well to dry periods.

Fertilizing: You can apply some granular fertilizer in the springtime.

Pruning: Naturally maintains a tidy, dense habit. If you’d like to shape it, you can do so in the late spring.
