PERFECTO MUNDO® Double Purple azalea

Zone: 6b, 7, 8, 9 Exposure: Full Sun, Part Sun Height: 2.5-3' Width/Spread: 3-4'

If ruffled blooms delight you, Perfecto Mundo Double Purple azalea may just become your new favorite sight. Each of its short little stems end in the fluffiest bunch of doubled blooms. It starts flowering in spring, takes a break in early summer, and reblooms in earnest in late summer and fall. Its soft purple coloring is visually arresting, appearing multi-dimensional thanks to all of the overlapping petals and resulting shadows. Its foliage is lovely, both visually thanks to its constant evergreen presence and to the touch, with the light fuzz that covers each small leaf.

Why grow Perfecto Mundo Double Purple azalea?

  • Abundant rebloom
  • Tidy habit
  • Better cold hardiness

Light: Has the healthiest foliage and flowers most prolifically in sites with part sun – all day dappled light or morning sun with afternoon shade.

Soil: Prefers acidic soils that stay evenly moist, but with good drainage.

Water: Likes to be kept on the moist side, but not soggy.

Fertilizing: Apply compost to the soil surface every season, all azaleas benefit from high organic matter.

Pruning: Pruning isn’t necessary, but if you’d like to increase the abundance of rebloom you can trim it just after its big spring bloom. This encourages new growth, which will bloom more prolifically.

Other: Has shown improved lacebug resistance.
