Its bright chartreuse foliage is fabulous all throughout the summer and the bright blue berries practically glow against the sunny background. The show intensifies in late summer as hues of gold and orange start to creep into the leaves. All at once it erupts into bright red for a show that is sure to put a smile on your face and draw people in asking, “What is that plant?”

Light: Grows best in full sun, gets the best foliage color and fruit set with 6 or more hours of direct sunlight.

Soil: For maximum potential, grow it in acidic, well-drained soil.

Water: Average water needs, water during droughts.

Fertilizing: Apply a balanced fertilizer in late winter or early spring.

Pruning: Rejuvenation pruning is recommended yearly after the plant has gotten established. This is the process of removing 1/3 of the thickest branches all the way to the ground. Dead or damaged wood can be removed at any time.

Other: A compatible pollinator is required to set fruit.
